GM Honey: Bees Sting Monsanto - Health Supreme NewsGrabs 11 September 2011
EU Court Puts Limits on Modified Honey
Honey that contains traces of pollen from genetically modified crops needs special authorization before it can be sold, the European Union's top court said Tuesday, in a judgment that could have widespread consequences on the bloc's policy on genetically modified organisms, or GMOs.
The ruling from the European Court of Justice came after several Bavarian beekeepers demanded compensation from their government for honey and food supplements that contained traces of pollen from genetically modified maize.
A message from the President of the European Professional Beekeepers Association:Dear Friends,
Big day for us! We won our case at the European Court of Justice. We are playing offense now. Your governments can no longer argue, that beekeepers are not entitled to protection and compensation. This means, that you need to go to your government agencies now and ask for safety distances to be required. 10 km around every honey producing hive is what we need to argue for.
Monsanto has fought us all the way. They know, this may be the beginning of the end for GMO cultivation in Europe.
Importers will have to analyze their honey for GMOs and label it. If the GMOs are not approved in the EU. The honey cannot be marketed here.

USA: Why is a Monsanto lobbyist serving as the FDA's Food Safety Czar? The Food and Drug Administration is running sting operations followed by "guns-drawn raids usually reserved for terrorists and drug lords" as part of a crackdown on unpasteurized milk.1 Meanwhile, the FDA is letting the highly consolidated industrial meat and factory farm industry off the hook despite growing problems.
Not surprisingly, the person responsible for prioritizing armed raids on small dairies over holding agribusiness accountable is a former Monsanto attorney and chief super lobbyist. Monsanto's Michael Taylor is the second highest-ranking official at the FDA, and as Food Safety Czar is responsible for implementing the day-to-day policies that govern the food safety laws for the U.S.
The Failure of Raw Milk ProhibitionThe FDA is, in desperation, trying to influence consumers against raw milk. Even so, sales of raw milk keep increasing and new consumers come into the market. Since the FDA does not have the power to regulate intrastate commerce, it is up to the states to regulate raw milk. The FDA’s job, then, is to apply pressure on states to restrict or ban the sale of raw milk.
The fear mongering over the dangers of raw milk is rooted in government-special interest propaganda with no basis in facts or science. The prohibition campaign has portrayed the decision to drink raw milk as a public danger rather than a personal choice. In response, Ted Beals, MD, delivered a presentation at the Third International Raw Milk Symposium in Bloomington, MN in May 2011, where he delivered these remarks:
From the perspective of a national public health professional looking at an estimated total of 48 million foodborne illnesses each year; or from the perspective of a healthcare professional looking at a total of 90,771 (data from Healthy People 2020) confirmed bacterial foodborne infections each year (about 0.2 percent), there is no rational justification to focus national attention on raw milk, which may be associated with an average of 42 illnesses maximum among the more than nine million people (about 0.0005 percent) who have chosen to drink milk in its fresh unprocessed form.
GM Animal Feed is Toxic, New Meta-Analysis ConfirmsThe nineteen feeding studies performed to date were performed by both industry and independent scientists on either Bt maize or RR soybean, which constitute 83 percent of commercially available GM food. The Bt maize varieties all contain a specific pesticidal protein from the soil bacterium Bt (Bacillus thuringiensis), one variety was also glufosinate herbicide tolerant; the RR soybean is tolerant to Roundup Ready (glyphosate) herbicide. The data were re-analysed with new biological and statistical methods, including the meta-analysis. Meta-analyses allow a more objective appraisal of the evidence and provide a more precise estimate of a treatment effect, giving greater statistical power, and reducing the significance of false-positive or false-negative results.
Although none of the findings are new, the meta-analysis gives further strength to the previous evidence. Importantly, it found that nine percent of tested parameters were disrupted, which is almost double the five percent that could be obtained by chance alone.
Forty-three percent of significant abnormalities were found in the kidneys of males. The liver was more affected in females and the kidney was more affected in males.
Why Glyphosate (Roundup) should be banned world wideFeeding trials have resulted in liver and kidney toxicities, still births, stunting, infertility and birth defects, recently confirmed in a thorough laboratory study, and corroborated by observation of highly toxic effects on placental and embryonic cells.
It transpired that glyphosate was already found to cause birth defects in the biotech industry’s studies carried out in the 1990s, which were submitted to the EU for market approval.
In the field, extensive studies by US scientists have confirmed that glyphosate and glyphosate-tolerant crops poisons and soil. More than 40 crop diseases are now linked to glyphosate use, including Fusarium head blight, root rot, and sudden death syndrome.
USA: Bayer to to pay $750 m to farmers over modified rice seedsBayer AG unit will pay $750 million to settle claims with about 11,000 United States farmers who said a strain of the company’s genetically modified rice tainted crops and ruined their export value.
The settlement, announced on Friday, ends scores of lawsuits filed against the Bayer CropScience unit of the company by farmers in Texas, Louisiana, Missouri, Arkansas and Mississippi.
Pharmaceutical shortages - America experiences dearth of medicinesThe shortage affects a variety of treatments, but most are generic, injected drugs. Some can be replaced by other medicines, often inferior in quality and more expensive. Others have few substitutes. Hospitals are desperate, for example, to have electrolytes that keep premature babies alive, explains Erin Fox, who tracks drug shortages at the University of Utah. Oncologists are anxious for cytarabine, a leukaemia drug. “That’s the type of cancer that doesn’t have time to wait,” says Michael Link, president of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
It would appear that these shortages of drugs are a direct consequence of a government enforced de facto monopoly on pharmaceutical drug production. Drug laws passed in the 1960s, after Thalidomide, brought about a tightly controlled pharmaceutical drug market accessible to only a few producers, where real competition is notably absent. This highly controlled regime of drug production has however failed to protect patients' health and lives, and now it is becoming clear that it also is responsible for a non-functioning drugs market."It remains unclear what might be done" laments the article, advocating more regulation ... this time to order producers to keep drugs on the market.
Handling the bad effects of regulation with more regulation seems very much like handling the side effects of drugs with yet more drugs - it is part of the pharmaceutical tradition. But let me suggest a solution that would make sense:
Liberalize the production and sale of ALL health products, including pharmaceutical drugs. Liberalization would mean the dismantling of the de facto monopoly situation on medicines and health. It would mean abandoning the current corrupt control structure, including the FDA. It would pull the protective cover from pharmaceutical operations, both in terms of medicines harmful to patients, as well as in terms of drug companies' refusal to produce and supply certain medicines.
Standard product liability, enforced through the courts, would ensure better drug safety and a competitive open medicines market would guarantee drug availability as well as lower prices of medicines. Radical? ... perhaps, but it would sure beat regulations that can't be enforced.
Food Emergency: How the World Bank and IMF Have Made African Famine InevitableYet these factors alone are not responsible for the famine; instead they have intensified an already dire hunger crisis that has persisted in Sub-Saharan Africa for decades, thanks to lending policies pushed by the World Bank and International Monetary Fund (IMF) that transformed a self-sufficient, food-producing Africa into a continent dependent on imports and food aid, leaving the continent vulnerable to food emergencies and famine.
Since 1981, when these lending policies were first implemented, Oxfam found that the amount of sub-Saharan Africans surviving on less than one dollar a day doubled to 313 million by 2001, which is 46 percent of the population. Since the mid-1980s, the number of food emergencies per year on the continent has tripled.
According to Oxfam International spokesperson Caroline Pearce, the IMF and World Bank structural adjustment programs of the '80s and '90s led to “huge disinvestments in the agricultural sector.”
Piercing the Veil, More Drug Companies Reveal Payments to DoctorsEight pharmaceutical companies, including the nation's three largest, doled out more than $220 million last year to promotional speakers for their products, according to a ProPublica analysis of company data.
For the first time, all these companies have reported a full year of payments, allowing for head-to-head comparisons of how much they spent on physicians to help push their pills.
Patients Deserve to Know What Drug Companies Pay Their DoctorYour doctor gives you an expensive new drug to control your cholesterol, or recommends a certain brand of artificial hip, or says you need a stent to open a clogged artery.
He's the expert. But how do you know his expertise is untainted? The makers of the drug, the replacement hip or the stent may have paid your doctor to deliver promotional talks extolling the virtues of the product. Or they could be paying him, or her, to consult on marketing plans.
Vitamin A Supplements for Children Could Save 600,000 Lives a Year, Experts PredictThe researchers argue that the effectiveness of vitamin A supplementation is now so well-established that further trials would be unethical, and they urge policymakers to provide supplements for all children at risk of deficiency.
Vitamin A is an essential nutrient that must be obtained through diet. Vitamin A deficiency in children increases vulnerability to infections like diarrhea and measles and may also lead to blindness. Globally, the World Health Organisation estimates that 190 million children under the age of 5 may be vitamin A deficient. But, despite widespread efforts, vitamin A programmes do not reach all children who could benefit.
Cannabis plant extracts can effectively fight drug-resistant bacteriaBut when Appendino, Gibbons, and their colleagues applied extracts from five major cannabinoids to bacterial cultures of six strains of MRSA, they discovered that the cannabinoids were as effective at killing the bugs as vancomycin and other antibiotics.
"The cannabinoids even showed exceptional activity against the MRSA strain that makes extra amounts of the proteins that give the bugs resistance against many antibiotics," says Gibbons. These proteins, he explains, allow the bacteria to "hoover up unwanted things from inside the cell and spit them out again."
Conveniently, of the five cannabinoids tested by the researchers, the two most effective ones also happen to be nonpsychoactive, meaning that they cannot cause a high. "What this means is, we could use fiber hemp plants that have no use as recreational drugs to cheaply and easily produce potent antibiotics," says Appendino.
Antibiotics Ruin Intestinal Biota: Loss Extends to Future GenerationsEmerging research shows that the harmful effects of antibiotics go much further than the development of drug resistant diseases. The beneficial bacteria lost to antibiotics, along with disease-inducing bacteria, do not recover fully. Worse, flora lost by a mother is also lost to her babies. The missing beneficial gut bacteria are likely a major factor behind much of the chronic disease experienced today. The continuous use of antibiotics is resulting in each generation experiencing worse health than their parents.
Ibuprofen Linked to Double Risk of MiscarriageIn a paper published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal, researchers at the University of Montreal conclude: “Women who were exposed to any type and dosage of non-aspirin NSAIDs during early pregnancy were more likely to have a spontaneous abortion.
“Given that the use of non-aspirin NSAIDs during early pregnancy has been shown to increase the risk of major congenital malformations and that our results suggest a class effect on the risk of clinically detected spontaneous abortion, non-aspirin NSAIDs should be used with caution during pregnancy.”
USA: Did prescription drugs contribute to Idaho professor's violence?A former University of Idaho psychology professor, Bustamante resigned Aug. 19, about two months after graduate student Katy Benoit filed a sexual harassment complaint against him. Three days later, he killed Benoit with 11 shots from a .45 semi-auto handgun while she stood on the porch of her off-campus home, then shot himself in a Moscow hotel room several hours later.
Moscow police found four powerful psychiatric prescriptions in Bustamante's name in the hotel room, including clonazepam and alprazolam (benzodiazepine-type drugs, or "benzos"), which are used to treat epileptic convulsions, sleep disorders and anxiety. They also found citalopram and lamotrigine, which are used to treat anxiety, depression, epilepsy and bipolar disorder.
"That cocktail of drugs is a prescription for violence and suicide," Dr. Peter Breggin said from his office in Ithaca, N.Y. "I see this kind of thing all the time from just one of the drugs. But in combination, they get worse."
Pro Publica: Drug Companies Defend ‘Interactions’ With Physicians"Interactions between biopharmaceutical research companies and healthcare professionals play a critical role in improving patient care and fostering appropriate use of medicines," wrote Diane Bieri, the group's executive vice president and general counsel.
The PhRMA release does not explicitly note that doctors and other health professionals are being paid for giving promotional speeches, calling them “peer education programs.” ProPublica's analysis found that some physicians earn more than $100,000 a year from the practice.
According to Norma Erickson, president of SANE Vax, "A sexually naive girl developed acute juvenile rheumatoid arthritis at age 13 within 24 hours after the third Gardasil injection and her blood sample - tested two years later - was found to be positive for HPV DNA by a local clinical laboratory." A possible connection between HPV DNA in Gardasil and leukemia or lymphoma has also been raised by vaccine safety advocates, said Erickson.
The letter sent to Dr. Margaret Hamburg at the FDA stated, "One of the HPV DNA fragments detected in the vaccine is part of a synthetic construct (GenBank Locus SCU55993) for HPV11 major capsid protein L1 gene, a recombinant DNA genetically engineered specifically for manufacturing of the Gardasil vaccine."
CONTAGION, THE MOVIE - AN AUTHORITATIVE REVIEW
by Jon RappoportOn Sept. 9, the bio-disaster film, Contagion, opens worldwide. With a budget of $60 million, director Steve Soderbergh, Matt Damon, Laurence Fishburne, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Kate Winslet will try to convince audiences that a virus can kill off half the world in six days. Or something.
The tag line on the movie poster is: Nothing Spreads Like Fear.
Or as I prefer, Nothing Spreads Like Bullshit.
The script received assistance from the CDC and “a team of scientific experts,” and was partially based on research into the global SARS epidemic. Would that be the epidemic that spawned 8,422 confirmed cases and killed 916 people?
The Problem With Vaccines Part 5A – Detoxification & Restoration of the BodyDetoxification & restoration of the body can only be accomplished by focusing on the overall design. Depending on the extent of vaccine injury affecting your specific constitution, it can be measured, in terms of degrees, somewhere on the scale leading to Autism. Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder have had the rug pulled out from under them at a critical stage of early development, stripped of their vital mineral base, Mitochondrial & Thyroid functionality (including the liver), their delicate “electrical grid” nerve center violated – which significantly inhibits the capacity of the body to carry out its normal systems of operation. The gut level “plumbing” crisis is the end result of a “house” in crisis; ground zero for neurological & neuro-developmental disfunction.
Common deficiencies amongst children with Autism frequently include (all vaccinated children, regardless, are susceptible to this depletion to a lesser or greater extent): Vitamins A, B6/B12, C, D2, E, Glutathione, Selenium, Magnesium, Mitochondria (related). These are the body’s primary antioxidants & trace minerals (excluding Mitochondria); essential to regulating Free Radicals (unpaired Electrons) throughout the body, staving off Cancer, Diabetes, Autism, Schizophrenia & the rapid macro-degeneration of cells.
Video: Vaccines - The Risks, The Benefits, The Choices [complete]This highly-informative presentation offers the most comprehensive overview available; guiding you step by step through vaccination history, conflicts of interest and the lack of scientific data to support the current vaccine protocol. Dr. Tenpenny paints a very clear picture of the immune system and its threats and offers compelling information regarding the "real" risks of choosing not to vaccinate.

Low-dose naltrexone (LDN): Tricking the body to heal itselfResearchers at The Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine, Hershey, Pennsylvania have discovered the mechanism by which a low dose of the opioid antagonist naltrexone (LDN), an agent used clinically (off-label) to treat cancer and autoimmune diseases, exerts a profound inhibitory effect on cell proliferation. It has been postulated that opioid receptor blockade by LDN provokes a compensatory elevation in endogenous opioids and opioid receptors that can function after LDN is no longer available. Using a novel tissue culture model of LDN action, the mechanism of LDN has been found to target the opioid growth factor (OGF, [Met5]-enkephalin) and OGF receptor (OGFr) axis. This discovery, reported in the September 2011 issue of Experimental Biology and Medicine, provides new insights into the molecular pathway utilized by an increasingly important clinically prescribed agent that serves as a basic biological regulator of cell proliferative events related to pathobiological states such as cancer and autoimmune diseases.
