SHADOWS OF THE FUTURE - a short film by Kevin P. Miller
a video by Kevin P. Miller
"SHADOWS OF THE FUTURE was produced to help consumers understand the threat Codex regulations present to them. People need to know how 'Free Trade' deals with the WTO have tied us into a this strange bureaucratic alliance, and how it imposes on our lives and freedoms."

"But they also need to know that there is something they can do about it. By supporting the vital work being performed by the National Health Federation at the actual Codex meetings, you can aid the NHF as they can truly speak to power. NHF is the only health freedom organization at Codex that is promoting medical freedom of choice, all the while they combat the deceitful agendas Big Food and Big Pharma are pursuing through Codex Alimentarius."

Video: Sugar: The Bitter Truth
This is a video of a lecture of one and a half hours. Robert H. Lustig, MD, UCSF Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Endocrinology, explores the damage caused by sugary foods. He argues that too much fructose and not enough fiber appear to be cornerstones of the obesity epidemic through their effects on insulin...

Vitamin D deficiency rampant in patients undergoing orthopedic surgery, damaging patient recovery
Almost 50 percent of patients undergoing orthopedic surgery have vitamin D deficiency that should be corrected before surgery to improve patient outcomes, based on a study by researchers at Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York City. Vitamin D is essential for bone healing and muscle function and is critical for a patient's recovery. The study appears in the October issue of The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery.

Vitamin C Saves Life of Man Dying of Viral Pneumonia
The Doctors were in unanimous agreement that IV (intravenous) Vitamin C would be useless and a waste of time, and that the patient will certainly die. However, one doctor "felt slightly uneasy" with the decision to turn off life support, without first acceding to the family's wishes, and so they reluctantly agreed to give the IV Vitamin C. Their plan was to give the IV Vitamin C, show it was useless, and then turn off life support.

Research identifies the herbal supplements that are effective in treating anxiety
A systematic review of research into the use of nutritional supplements for the treatment of anxiety disorders has found strong evidence for the use of extracts of passionflower or kava and combinations of L-lysine and L-arginine. Researchers writing in BioMed Central's open access Nutrition Journal pooled the results of 24 studies involving a total of more than 2000 participants, showing that some nutritional and herbal supplements can be effective, without the risk of serious side effects.

This and similar research data would of course go a long way explaining the great urgency pharmaceutical lobbies are putting on legislative projects ... to restrict and in some cases ban the use of herbs and other supplements. It's the health monopoly eliminating any competition from those pesky "unregulated" nutrients and herbs.

USA: Court rules hormone milk not equal to normal milk
The court challenged the FDA’s finding that there is “no measurable compositional difference” between milk from rbGH-treated cows and milk from untreated cows. According to those who have worked on this issue for nearly two decades now (maybe more), the FDA’s claim that there was no compositional difference between milk from rbGH-treated and untreated cows was THE MAJOR roadblock to any good regulation. And the court finally struck it down, citing three reasons why the milk differs:

- Increased levels of the hormone IGF-1;
- A period of milk with lower nutritional quality during each lactation; and
- Increased somatic cell counts (i.e. more pus in the milk).

Genetically Modified Soy Diets Lead to Ovary and Uterus Changes in Rats
Female rats fed GM soy for 15 months showed significant changes in their uterus and reproductive cycle, compared to rats fed organic soy or those raised without soy. Published in The Anatomical Record in 2009, this finding adds to the mounting body of evidence suggesting that GM foods contribute to reproductive disorders.

Genetically Modified Soy Linked to Sterility, Infant Mortality in Hamsters
"This study was just routine," said Russian biologist Alexey V. Surov, in what could end up as the understatement of this century. Surov and his colleagues set out to discover if Monsanto's genetically modified (GM) soy, grown on 91% of US soybean fields, leads to problems in growth or reproduction. What he discovered may uproot a multi-billion dollar industry.

Argentina: Roundup Herbicide a Human Tragedy
In 2002, two years after the first big harvests of RR soy in the country, residents and doctors in soy producing areas began reporting serious health effects from glyphosate spraying, including high rates of birth defects as well as infertility, stillbirths, miscarriages, and cancers. Environmental effects include killed food crops and livestock and streams strewn with dead fish.

One of the first medical doctors to report problems from glyphosate spraying of GM soy was Dr Darío Gianfelici, from Cerrito, Entre Ríos, Argentina. According to Gianfelici, there are two levels of toxic effects from glyphosate: acute effects, such as vomiting, diarrhoea, respiratory problems, and skin rashes; and chronic effects, which take 10–20 years to show up. These include infertility and cancer.

Poland: The Great GM Free Potato Celebration
The Amflora GM potato variety, developed by BASF, has recently been cleared for farming in the EU. Developed for industrial use, rather than for human consumption, this variety contains a highly controversial antibiotic resistant gene. Although Member States may choose for themselves whether to actually cultivate this GM variety, there is the risk of contamination of their potato food crops for those that do. Then, whether they want to or not, all Member States will be forced to accept trade in the produce!

Brushing your teeth, sodium bicarbonate and kidney disease
Sodium Bicarbonate, is a very useful therapeutic in a wide variety of disease states. From things as commonplace as diaper rash, to as serious as cancer, there is either folk knowledge or emerging research to support its use.

The role of the kidneys in maintaining appropriate pH is more appropriately the topic of a textbook or a careers work, not a line or two in a post. However, it can be said that along with excretion of hydrogen ions in the urine, the kidneys make use of a number of buffers to keep blood pH in a confined range. Likely the most important of these buffers is the bicarbonate ion. Indeed the kidneys are producing and/or resorbing large amounts of bicarbonate on a daily basis.

USA: Psych Meds In Jails
A ground-breaking, year-long investigation by Youth Today has uncovered ample evidence that many youths incarcerated in American juvenile facilities are getting potent anti-psychotic drugs intended for bipolar or schizophrenic patients, even when they have not been diagnosed with either disorder.

Book: Serious Adverse Events - An Uncensored History of AIDS
Building on her much discussed cover story in Harper’s Magazine—“Out of Control: AIDS and the Corruption of Medical Science”—Celia Farber’s Serious Adverse Events: An Uncensored History of AIDS asks important questions about the costs and results of the two-decade long “war on AIDS.”

Here Farber conducts new interviews with controversial AIDS dissidents, including UC Berkeley’s Peter Duesberg, UNAM’s Harvey Bialy, and Nobelist Kary Mullis.

How the Pharmaceutical Industry is Preying on our Children
“I want to sell drugs to everyone. I want to sell drugs to healthy people. I want drugs to sell like chewing gum.”

With those words former Merck CEO Henry Gadsden established the aim of the entire pharmaceutical industry more than 30 years ago. With that aim, a monster was born...

Mad as a Hatter
from the Diary of a Legal Drug Dealer
Mad as a hatter. The phrase originated in the English Victorian era because hat makers often went insane due to the handling of mercury in the process of making hats. It has been recognized for more than one hundred years that mercury causes brain damage.

So why do U.S. pharmaceutical firms use a mercury- based preservative for vaccines given to babies and young children? It saves money. Thimerosal developed by Eli Lilly in the 1930’s is a preservative agent to prevent bacterial and fungal contamination. It also allows multiple injections to be made from one vial of vaccine. One large vial to give many shots is less expensive than bottling vaccines in small individual doses.

The reality is Thimerosal use in vaccines is unimaginably more expensive than the non-mercury alternatives. Not to the drug companies. But for the millions of families who now have children with autism or neurological disorders due to mercury poisoning. Maybe the updated American term should be: Mad as a drug company.

USA: Pharmaceutical Company Fails To Report 3,500 Deaths
During an inspection of Actelion Pharmaceuticals offices in the summer of 2009, the FDA found the drugmaker was repeatedly failing to follow proper procedures for reporting adverse events and, as a result, about 3,500 patient deaths were never filed with the agency. Yes, about 3,500.

How Can you Cure AIDS If You Can’t Define It?
I am often asked if there will ever be a cure for AIDS or, if I don’t think HIV causes AIDS, what does? I used to try to answer that question missing the obvious – What is AIDS?

Could mobile phones be giving us brain cancer?
With mobile phone use soaring, especially among the young, Dr Davis says we could face a ‘global public health catastrophe’ in as little as three years if the problem is ignored.

Mobile phones are low-powered radio frequency transmitters which produce microwave radiation.

The debate over the cancer risks from this radiation has been going on for years. Yet the lack of any conclusive evidence has allowed the industry to claim phones are safe and led to sceptics being dismissed as scaremongers.

New Research on Colony Collapse Disorder by Army and Entomologists
A fungus tag-teaming with a virus have apparently interacted to cause the problem, according to a paper by Army scientists in Maryland and bee experts in Montana in the online science journal PLoS One.

Exactly how that combination kills bees remains uncertain, the scientists said...

It continually amazes me how the subject of microwave pollution of our countryside seems to be an absolute taboo when researchers look for the cause of the bee die-off. Both viruses and fungi have been around for millions of years and have never been able to cause such destruction. Something else must be weakening the bees in a serious way. And microwaves do fit the bill - the cell phone networks have been built out to reach every last nook and cranny just over the last decade or two ... in time coincidence with the bees starting to die.

What's so difficult about acknowledging this?

Oh - I forget - there are billions riding on those cell phone networks, both for the companies involved and for governments who get to pocket the money for auctioning off the spectrum...
