The Statin Drug Disease Progression - Health Supreme NewsGrabs Wednesday, 9 June 2010

Statins and Myoglobin: How Muscle Pain and Weakness Progress to Heart, Lung and Kidney Failure (Part 1)
All drugs have potential side effects, and with any drug it's a matter of weighing the risk/benefit factors to decide whether the drug is warranted. Statin drugs have a remarkably diverse set of side effects, including cognitive and memory impairment, reduced libido, and muscle pain and weakness.

The drug manufacturers claim that the incidence of side effects is relatively rare, but often side effects don't appear until after several months or even years into treatment. In many of these cases, it may not be obvious that the statin drug is the cause of the problem. This is especially true because these side effects can easily be attributed to increasing age. In fact, as I will show later, statin side effects can best be interpreted as an acceleration of the aging process.

In my view, statin drugs are never worth the risk of their side effects. Cholesterol is a vital nutrient, without which mammalian cells can not survive, and it is inconceivable to me that crippling the body's ability to synthesize cholesterol can ever be a good idea.

Most people who are put on statin drugs by doctors to prevent a possible heart attack have no idea what they may be about to experience. For that reason, I am re-linking an older article on the 'side effects' of statin drugs. This one is about Pfizer's Lipitor and reading the comments will give you an idea that, indeed, the side effects of statin drugs are all but a rare occurrence.

The comments should be a stark warning for anyone ordered by their doctor to take statins, to do their own research. Here it is: Lipitor: Side Effects And Natural Remedy

European Food Safety Agency: Don't talk about health benefits of food

The EU bureaucrats are making it practically impossible for a manufacturer or seller of healthy foods to say what it's good for or why we should eat it. Requirements to scientifically prove health claims are so severe that practically it becomes impossible to inform. Rob Verkerk of the Alliance for Natural Health gives us his personal impressions of the meeting.

"Patrick Coppens of the European Responsible Nutrition Alliance, a European trade body also representing natural health issues on behalf of some drug companies, made a good point. He explained that if the role of the regulation was to ensure that consumers were not misled, they should have simple claims. He then used an example presented by EFSA concerning health claims on fish. EFSA made it clear they wouldn't accept a general claim that fish is good for you. EFSA said they want the claims to be broken down to their constituent parts, each showing a particular functional or physiological relationship. Mr Coppens then made the all-important point that if you dissect the science on fish to its consituent parts, whether you're looking at the omega-3 benefits, the protein benefits, vitamin D benefits, you almost certainly would not hit EFSA's threshold of data required for health claims. The result? No claims can be made on the health benefits of fish. Shall we all then eat hamburgers and chips?"

Catherine Geslain-Lanéelle opened the meeting taking about the importance of diet and physical activity on dealing with the major burden on European health care systems, namely chronic diseases such as cancer, heart disease, diabetes, obesity and osteoporosis—yet here we have a regulation that will give people less, not more, information about which foods and nutrients they can select to prevent or reduce disease.

And while they recognise the role of nutrition in disease prevention, the regulation explicitly prevents us from talking about it. That's because it's the sole domain of pharmaceutical drugs. Call it a stitch up if you like.

North Korea hails development of new 'super drink'
KCNA, North Korea's official news agency, says a "super drink" has been developed and successfully tested that can multiply brain cells and stop skin ageing. The drink contains 60 different "microelements" extracted from more than 30 species of plants and it is said to help improve mental faculties and memory by multiplying brain cells. "It also protects skin from wrinkles and black spots and prevents degenerative diseases such as cerebral haemorrhage as well as myocardial and brain infarction by removing acidifying matter over time."

Mega-Dose Vitamin Therapy in Intensive Care
When one considers the lowly vitamin pill as an economic rival to drugs, and the dependence of the media on drug company advertising, the motivation to discredit mega-dose vitamins becomes all too obvious. Seemingly oblivious to this negative message, physicians quietly go about their business using megadose vitamin therapy in the intensive care unit with considerable success. Recent reports of this have been appearing in medical journals, finally vindicating Linus Pauling and Abram Hoffer as yes, of course, they were right all along.

World's ecosystems provide services equal to global income
"Biodiversity and ecosystems deliver crucial services to humankind -- from food security to keeping our waters clean, buffering against extreme weather, providing medicines to recreation, and adding to the foundation of human culture," the report said.

"Together these services have been estimated to be worth over 21 to 72 trillion U.S. dollars every year -- comparable to the World Gross National Income of 58 trillion USD in 2008," it said.

U.N. Environment Program Executive Director Achim Steiner said this reality has not been given enough consideration in the past and urged governments to factor ecosystem management into their development plans and accounts.

Tracking the American Epidemic of Mental Illness - Part III
For the past two decades, the Psychopharmaceutical Industrial Complex has been the driving force behind the epidemic of mental illness in the United States with the promotion of biological psychiatry and a bogus "chemical imbalance" in the brain theory.
The Psychopharmaceutical Industrial Complex (PPIC) is a symbiotic system composed of the American Psychiatric Association, the pharmaceutical industry, public relations and advertising firms, patient support organizations, the National Institute of Mental Health, managed care organizations, and the flow of resources and money among these groups, according to an October 1, 2009 paper in the Journal of Mental Health Counseling, by Dr Thomas Murray, director of Counseling and Disability Services at the University of North Caroline School of Art.

Reporting bias in medical research
Many cases involved the withholding of study data by manufacturers and regulatory agencies or the active attempt by manufacturers to suppress publication. The ascertained effects of reporting bias included the overestimation of efficacy and the underestimation of safety risks of interventions.

In conclusion, reporting bias is a widespread phenomenon in the medical literature. Mandatory prospective registration of trials and public access to study data via results databases need to be introduced on a worldwide scale. This will allow for an independent review of research data, help fulfill ethical obligations towards patients, and ensure a basis for fully-informed decision making in the health care system.

Sara Carlin Inquest - How Glaxo protects its deadly drug
by Bob Fiddaman
The Coroner's Office is supposed to be neutral and supposed to protect public safety. It is supposed to give the dead a 'voice'.

An inquest serves an investigative, social and preventative function. It involves public scrutiny of the conditions which may cause or contribute to the death of a member of the community.

It would appear that the Coroner's Office have already made their mind up regarding the causation of Sara Carlin's death. Day one and already they are talking to the media claiming that evidence will be shown that Paxil did not cause Sara's death.

Study: Rise in Autism and introduction of Aborted Fetal DNA in Vaccines Correlate
"The temporal connection between the introduction of aborted fetal DNA and autism rises is found over decades and across continents," Dr. Deisher told LifeSiteNews. "This temporal connection is more compelling than any mercury connection," which, she said, had no temporal connection to rising rates of autism.

As the abstract of the study indicates, autism rates in the US and the UK began to increase around the same time that the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine switched from using animal cells to using human cells that had been derived from aborted fetuses.

The use of such cells means that the vaccine might contain residual human DNA fragments. Dr. Deisher told LSN that "short fragments of human DNA residuals in vaccines present two well-documented potential physiological dangers" and "the possibility for auto-immune reactions." While the immune system recognizes the DNA as foreign, its similarity to an individual's own DNA can cause the immune system to attack parts of the individual's own body.

What numbers mean: 50% of "HIV-positives" are long-term non-progressors
The proportion of potential long-term non-progressors can in fact be calculated from available official data. CDC has published firm estimates of the annual number of new HIV "infections". Many estimates have been published over the years of the total numbers of "HIV-positive" Americans. Detailed numbers are made available periodically by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention about numbers of people "living with HIV", "living with HIV/AIDS", and dead from AIDS (or "HIV disease").

It turns out that if every American were to be HIV-tested, something like half of them would be potential long-term non-progressors or elite controllers

Which means, I might add, that the standard story about HIV/AIDS could not be true.

Henry Bauer is the author of the book The Orgin, Persistence and Failings of HIV/AIDS Theory.

Mom Blames Teen's Illness On HPV Vaccine
17,000 Patients Sickened By Gardasil, CDC Data Shows
Lauren's mom, Rosemary, said her daughter's illness started after a routine visit to the pediatrician a year and a half ago. Her doctor recommended a new vaccine for young women, called Gardasil.

Gardasil maker Merck claims the vaccine prevents the human papillomavirus, or HPV. It is recommended for girls ages 9 to 26.

Book - Virus Mania: How the Medical Industry Continually Invents Epidemics, Making Billion-Dollar Profits At Our Expense
A daily scan through the news gives the impression that the world is constantly invaded by virus epidemics. The latest headlines feature the human papillomavirus (HPV) alleged to cause cervical cancer and the avian flu virus, H5N1. The public is also continually terrorized by reports about SARS, BSE, hepatitis C, AIDS, Ebola, and polio. However, this virus mayhem ignores very basic scientific facts: the existence, the pathogenicity and the deadly effects of these agents have never been proven...
