Whistleblowers Charge: Psychiatric Prescriptions are Medicaid Fraud - Health Supreme NewsGrabs Tuesday, 26 January 2010

PsychRights whistleblower suit challenges psychiatric prescriptions, charges medicaid fraud
"Even though the drug companies have been using these methods to induce psychiatrists to prescribe these drugs, it is the psychiatrists' responsibility to base their decisions on the facts, not drug company marketing," said Mr. Gottstein, continuing, "the uncritical acceptance of pharmaceutical company hype represents a massive betrayal of trust by the psychiatrists prescribing these drugs to children and youth."

AstraZeneca 'suppressed' drug test data
Thousands of patients are suing AstraZeneca in US courts, claiming the anti-psychotic drug Seroquel caused weight gain and diabetes.
The patients allege Seroquel, its second biggest selling drug worth $4.5bn (£2.7bn) a year, was marketed without adequate warning about possible side effects such as massive weight gain and the development of diabetes.

US Kids Represent Psychiatric Drug Goldmine
On April 22, 2009, the US Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality reported that in 2006 more money was spent on treating mental disorders in children aged 0 to 17 than for any other medical condition, with a total of $8.9 billion. By comparison, the cost of treating trauma-related disorders, including fractures, sprains, burns, and other physical injuries, was only $6.1 billion.

Think Psychiatrists Don’t Electroshock People Anymore?
Ask the average person about the use of electroshock treatment in today’s society and 9 out of 10 will respond, “They still shock people?”

They do. It’s estimated that more than 100,000 Americans are electroshocked each year; half are 60 and older, and two-thirds are women. In Australia, it was recently revealed that psychiatrists had electroshocked 55 toddlers age four and younger. In the UK, three year olds have been brutalized with it. And one of the country’s leading mental health “patients’ rights” groups—the National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI)—recently endorsed the use of electroshock on pregnant women...

WHO Financing: Panel Member Says Meetings Were Manipulated
A member of a World Health Organization panel of experts that is contemplating new global taxes on e-mail, alcohol, tobacco, airline travel and consumer bank transactions, charges she was given only selective info at group meetings, deliberations were rushed and her group was “manipulated” by the pharmaceutical industry, Fox News reports.

Cecilia Lopez Montano, a federal senator from Colombia, says the group’s working sessions she attended were truncated, her suggestions to examine intellectual patent rights held by drugmakers were ignored, and that neither she nor “the majority of the members of the group” actually participated in the findings “in a full manner.”

One quarter of US grain crops fed to cars - not people, new figures show
One-quarter of all the maize and other grain crops grown in the US now ends up as biofuel in cars rather than being used to feed people, according to new analysis which suggests that the biofuel revolution launched by former President George Bush in 2007 is impacting on world food supplies.

The 2009 figures from the US Department of Agriculture shows ethanol production rising to record levels driven by farm subsidies and laws which require vehicles to use increasing amounts of biofuels.

"The grain grown to produce fuel in the US [in 2009] was enough to feed 330 million people for one year at average world consumption levels," said Lester Brown, the director of the Earth Policy Institute, a Washington thinktank ithat conducted the analysis.

Comment from a friend in the US:

While I readily agree there are many non-food bio-fuel sources that COULD and SHOULD be turned into vehicle fuel, sadly this report shows they are not being used.

Living in the California desert, I am amazed at the resilience, abundance, but otherwise worthlessness of tumbleweeds. They grow anywhere out here, no matter how little rain we get or how lousy the soil is. Driving at Honda, they warned us drivers not to hit them. They rip a shiny paint job to shreds. But if you drive an old car like mine, they are fun to hit at high speed and watch them explode into a plume of biodegradable dust.

Anyone who ever cared for either a swimming pool or fish aquarium also knows algae can easily get out of control. So why are CORN and other food grain going into fuel tanks? It's easier to grow and process than tumbleweeds or algae, that's why.

So once again the lazy man destroys an otherwise good idea.

Video: Michael Pritchard's water filter turns filthy water drinkable
Too much of the world lacks access to clean drinking water. Engineer Michael Pritchard did something about it -- inventing the portable Lifesaver filter, which can make the most revolting water drinkable in seconds. An amazing demo from TEDGlobal 2009.

With cutting-edge nanotech, Michael Pritchard's Lifesaver water-purification bottle could revolutionize water-delivery systems in disaster-stricken areas around the globe.

Cure Cancer? Expect the FDA to destroy your life - The story of Greg Caton
Considering that half of American men and a third of American women will come down with cancer, the question must be asked: whom is the FDA “protecting”? The agency has effectively become the enforcement branch of the medical and pharmaceutical industries, which want to preserve the status quo. The pharmaceutical industry can’t make any money on natural remedies, and the doctors don’t want to lose the vast amounts of funding poured into cancer research.

FDA dupes Interpol to achieve illegal kidnapping and deportation of herbal formulator Greg Caton
Caton was taken from his holding facility and, with the help of U.S. State Department employees, involuntarily placed on an American Airlines plane headed for Miami. An Ecuadorian judge rushed to the airport in Guayaquil and demanded that Caton be released from the plane, stating that the attempted deportation was illegal, but American Airlines employees reportedly refused to allow Caton to leave the plane, stating that the plane was "U.S. territory" and that Ecuadorian law did not apply there...

The Story of Ozone
Ozone was first discovered and named by German scientist C.F. Schonbein in 1840.

The first ozone generators were developed by Werner von Siemens in Germany in 1857. The first report of ozone being used to purify blood in test tubes was by the German Dr. C. Lender in 1870.

The first American therapeutic use of ozone was by Dr. John H. Kellogg in ozone steam saunas at his Battle Creek, Michigan sanitarium from 1880, as he wrote in his book, "Diphtheria: Its Nature, Causes, Prevention and Treatment".

In October 1893, the world's first water treatment plant using ozone was installed in Ousbaden, Holland, and today there are over 3000 municipalities around the world that use ozone to clean their water and sewage, including all the great cities.

In 1885, the Florida Medical Association published "Ozone" by Dr. Charles J. Kenworthy, MD, detailing the use of ozone for therapeutic purposes.

US: Attorney sues FDA over antioxidant health claim prohibition
The action, lodged in a Washington DC District Court by Jonathan W Emord of Virginia-based law firm, Emord & Associates, seeks “declaratory and injunctive relief” from the Food and Drug Administration for withdrawing on June 19, 13 vitamin C and E cancer-related claims, and qualifying four others to the point where they are commercially unusable.

In particular, six claims are challenged relating vitamin C and lung, colon and gastric cancer; and vitamin E and bladder, gastric and lung cancer.

As with a similar action - lodged by Emord against the FDA over its approach to qualified selenium health claims - the antioxidant action lodged today cites Federal Court decisions that the FDA is accused of acting in contempt of.

In my view, the underlying issue here is: Can it be illegal to inform people (and prospective customers) of research indicating that certain natural substances and nutrients have health promoting properties? FDA clearly believes so, but are they acting out of a desire to protect our health or is it Pharma's bottom line that ultimately leads to this kind of censorship?

Judgement day for MMR rebel: an investigation that has blighted doctor's life for 12 years finally approaches conclusion
The longest and most complex disciplinary hearing ever held by the General Medical Council will reach a conclusion on Friday.

Dr Andrew Wakefield, the gastroenterologist who in 1998 raised the possibility of a link between autism, bowel disease and the MMR jab, will learn whether he has been found guilty of ethical breaches in research methods.

CryShame is organising a demonstration of support for the doctors outside the GMC building on the day, and we urge you to join us. This will be a landmark day in the long and exhausting fight to get justice for our children. Anyone attending the hearing over the last few years will be in little doubt of what the outcome should be. Each of the doctors presented a robust defence backed by solid documented fact to indicate that none of the allegations constitutes anything approaching professional misconduct. On the contrary, the GMC hearing has served to emphasise the dedication, care and courage of these three men in the face of a political trial that was triggered by a journalist and manipulated by a desperate system.

Please be there to support the doctors. Current expectations are that the decision will be announced at 2 pm on the 28th Jan, but do refer to the CryShame website (www.cryshame.co.uk) where news will be posted of any possible changes.

Video: Drug firms made 'false H1N1 claims'
The severity of the H1N1 outbreak was deliberately exaggerated by pharmaceutical companies that stood to make billions of dollars from a worldwide scare, a leading European health expert has claimed.

Wolfgang Wodarg, head of health at the Council of Europe, has accused the makers of vaccines for the virus of influencing the World Health Organisation's (WHO) decision to declare a pandemic.

The Pandemic Control Paradigm
What millions including governments are beginning to suspect, regarding the H1N1 Flu Virus, commonly referred to as the Swine Flu Virus, is that this so-called "pandemic" was a skillfully orchestrated ‘agenda’ to sell vaccines to governments worldwide for hidden reasons, other than what we have been told officially.

Testing Aids Drugs on Children: How many deaths would be too many?
Dr. John P. Moore (of the Weill Cornell medical center), together with Ms. Jeanne Bergman (AIDS activist), have made a point of telling the public media, usually through bullying letters, threatening libel, to ignore and bury the story – that the orphans were used to no bad end, and that even though many died, there is nothing to be alarmed about.

It’s all fine, if they say it’s fine. And that’s supposed to be good enough for you, should you care to be concerned about using orphaned children in drug trials.

So, after years of wondering at the lack of humanity in these people, I’ve given up. I simply want to know: How many is too many?
